Toho Entertainment Store in Hibiya!

While out and about in Hibiya on March 13, I discovered the Toho Entertainment Store quite by accident in Hibiya Chanter. As the name might suggest, this store is not another Godzilla store but sells goods related to various Toho properties -- Godzilla included.

There were some cool items for sale, such as Blu-rays of Godzilla movies and other things, but I successfully kept my money in my wallet. I really ought to start spending less money, but that's easier said than done.

Godzilla is so well represented in Hibiya that a 7-Eleven in the basement of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya has its own Godzilla section. So, yes, you may be able to buy a Slurpee at yours, but can you buy a Godzilla keychain there, too? Yeah, that's what I thought!

HIBIYA MEETS GODZILLA! Godzilla Celebrates His 70th Anniversary in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya!

Godzilla in Hibiya for his 70th anniversary. Photo by Brett Homenick.

Earlier today, I made my way to Hibiya to check out the Godzilla '54 bust standing guard in front of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya. What a cool way to celebrate his 70th anniversary! The Big G will be hanging out there from February 1 until March 10, so you can bet your bottom dollar I'll come back again before it's gone. Let's check out the highlights.

Out and About in Hibiya!

Yesterday (Saturday, November 4), my friend Jacob and I walked around Hibiya and the surrounding area. Our travels took us to Toho Cinemas Hibiya (with the classic Godzilla statue), Hibiya Chanter, and various other locations. I even found a new Godzilla Minus One (2023) advertisement in the basement of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, which you can see at the very bottom of the blog post. Enjoy!

Godzilla Fest 2023!

Godzilla Fest 2023. Photo by Brett Homenick.

November 3 marked Godzilla Fest 2023, and, well, there isn't much to say. I had a full schedule for the day, anyway, but what was on offer wasn't particularly enticing to me, and it mostly seemed like an excuse to shill some products. The highlight for me was bumping into someone from the U.S. who introduced himself to me, as he was familiar with my work. We had a great chat and are likely to hang out again before he leaves Japan. How cool is that! The rest, well, you can keep. Anyway, here's what I saw (for the brief time I was there).

Godzilla Ballyhoo in and around Hibiya!

Yours truly on the red carpet in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya.

Earlier today (Wednesday, November 1), I had a great time checking out some of the Godzilla Minus One (2023) ballyhoo around Hibiya, some of which was actually new for me. There was also this red carpet setup near the entrance of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya for the Tokyo International Film Festival, of which Minus One is a part, so maybe it counts, too. The Biollante diorama (seen below) in Hibiya Chanter was new for me, as was the Minus One (and Ichizo Kobayashi gallery) posters on the side of the Yurakucho Mullion building. Here's what I saw. Enjoy!
