HACHIKO X GODZILLA! Shibuya's Famous Bronze Statue Stands Atop the King of the Monsters!
While in Shibuya the other day, I saw an interesting advertisement placed in front of the bronze Hachiko statue in Shibuya. NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen (or just plain old Kohaku) is the long-running, year-end music show that many Japanese traditionally watch on NHK during New Year's Eve. This year, Shin Godzilla will somehow be a part of the festivities, but we'll just have to tune in to see what will happen.
I'm just not sure that will be enough to get me to tune in at long last!

OUT AND ABOUT IN SHIBUYA! An Afternoon of Various Sights!
Can you tell Godzilla Resurgence is about to come out? Photo by Brett Homenick.
Today was a busy day, and a good chunk of it was spent in Shibuya. As soon as I got off the JR Yamanote Line, I was inundated with posters promoting a Godzilla Resurgence/Shibuya Parco cross promotion that runs until July 14. I'll have to check that out!
I also got to see the massive renovation currently taking place, as Shibuya is undergoing a complete overhaul. Cerulean Tower looms in the background.
With election season gearing up, Hachiko is getting in on the action. I wonder which party he supports.
Guess who came back? I was surprised to see the same cat back at the Hachiko statue for more attention. There were even more people hovering around the cat than last time, making pictures of our feline friend even more difficult.
I spent the remainder of the day with Hal Foster, an actor and journalist who has recently returned to Japan. We had many great conversations!

HACHIKO & FRIEND! Shibuya's Loyal Canine Meets a New Feline Companion!
Shibuya's Hachiko statue gets an unexpected visitor. Photo by Brett Homenick.
While waiting for a friend at Shibuya Station's famed Hachiko statue, a man put his cat on the statue, which caused hordes of people to pull out their cameras and start taking pictures. Naturally, I was one of them. Here are the results. Enjoy!

A SURPRISE MEETING IN SHIBUYA! Seeing Ultra-Actress Keiko Nishi at the Hachiko Statue!
A selfie's worth a thousand words! Taking a picture with Ultraman Ace actress Keiko Nishi in Shibuya.
I've met Nishi-san many times in the last few years, but this one was completely unplanned! We had a good laugh about our chance encounter. We took a few photos, and then we both went on with our scheduled appointments.
Many thanks to Nishi-san for spending a few surprise moments with me at the Hachiko Statue!
