Easter Comes to the Godzilla Store!

It's a little late, but the Godzilla Store wishes you a Happy Easter! Photo by Brett Homenick.

On Thursday night, April 13, I had some time to kill in Shinjuku, so I stopped by the Godzilla Store. I bought two card sets (I guess I shouldn't bother telling myself anymore that I won't buy anything during my quick visits there) and snapped a couple of pictures. Here's what I saw. Enjoy!

As you can see, it's not much this time, but it's something. Let's wait and see what's there in the coming weeks.

'Shin Kamen Rider' Pulls Up in Shinjuku!

Shin Kamen Rider, coming soon to Shinjuku Wald 9. Photo by Brett Homenick.

While walking to the Godzilla Store Tokyo, I noticed this massive advertisement for the upcoming Shin Kamen Rider in front of the Shinjuku Wald 9 movie theater right next door. Here it is!

Happy Valentine's Day from the Godzilla Store Tokyo!

Earlier tonight, I stopped by the Godzilla Store Tokyo to see if there was anything new, and thankfully there was! I enjoyed the shop's Valentine's Day display, but I was especially pleased to see the Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973) 50th anniversary goods for sale. I couldn't resist and bought a Megalon key chain, which I've already added to my key ring. Here's what I saw -- enjoy!

Ride the Doraemon Express!

Doraemon on the Seibu Shinjuku Line. Photo by Brett Homenick.

While riding the Seibu Shinjuku Line yesterday, the train I was on was completely decked out with a Doraemon theme. While some trains around Tokyo have specific themes, it was the first time for me to see a Doraemon one.

Although I don't follow Doraemon or his antics, I actually found the whole thing pretty fun. And, despite my headline, this was not an express train. But it sounds good as a title.

I always enjoy encountering these kinds of surprises, even when I may not be so familiar with the character or franchise. This was certainly an example of that!

Godzilla Sightings in Shinjuku!

On Monday, I paid a visit to the Godzilla Store Tokyo in Shinjuku and saw a new Godzilla-themed vending machine next to the Hotel Gracery Shinjuku. The Godzilla Store, in particular, had a lot of amusing displays on hand. Let's take a look!

The Godzilla Head in Dusk!

For the first time in a really long time, I paid a visit to Kabukicho and photographed the Godzilla head atop the Hotel Gracery Shinjuku. Here's what I saw.

Godzilla Sighted in Shinjuku ... Rockin' Out with an Electric Guitar!

It's exactly as it looks. Photo by Brett Homenick.

While changing trains in Shinjuku, I happened upon a guy in a Godzilla suit going ape like a crazed hodad, jamming away with a (not-so-real) electric guitar. The sight was quite amusing, and as luck would have it, my camera was handy. Here's what I saw. Enjoy!

Godzilla vs. Valentine!

Godzilla vs. Valentine! Photo by Brett Homenick.

An eye-catching promotion is currently on display along Mosaic Street Shinjuku (right outside Shinjuku Station's West Exit). It's called Godzilla vs. Valentine, and -- wouldn't you know it -- it's just in time for Valentine's Day. It's all pretty self-explanatory, so let's get on with the pictures. Enjoy!

The Shinjuku Eye Sheds a Tear

The damaged Shinjuku Eye. Photo by Brett Homenick.

While in Shinjuku on Wednesday, I passed the Shinjuku Eye, which had recently been damaged. The fame sculpture is having a pretty lousy 50th anniversary so far. (It was created in 1969.) I certainly hope they catch the vandals responsible.

Godzilla Sights in Shinjuku

While in Shinjuku today, I snapped some photos of the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Both buildings feature prominently in the Godzilla series, namely Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) and Godzilla 1985 (1984), respectively. The photos came out quite nicely. Enjoy!

On Wednesday, I roamed around Shinjuku and photographed some of the monsters on display, including the Hotel Gracery Shinjuku and the Godzilla Store. Check 'em out!
