A DAY WITH MECHAGODZILLA! A Fun Afternoon with a Great Toho Suit Actor!

Today (Wednesday September 13), I was privileged to spend an afternoon with suit actor Wataru Fukuda. Fukuda-san is a very friendly guy, and I found our chat quite fascinating and enlightening.

Fukuda-san played Godzillasaurus in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991), Mechagodzilla in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993), Utsuno Ikusagami in Orochi the Eight-Headed Dragon (1994), and Mogera in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (1994). Of course, he was involved in many other projects as an action actor and stuntman.

This was only my second time to meet Fukuda-san, but I certainly hope there will be other such chances in the future.

TAKE THAT, YOU DINOSAUR! Meeting GvsKG's Jeff Berglund!

On Saturday evening, October 7, I had the chance to meet Jeff Berglund for the first time. An American-born talent who's spent decades in Japan, Jeff is certainly best known for his role in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) as the naval officer who says, "Take that, you dinosaur!" once it seems that Godzillasaurus has been defeated by the American military.

My 2008 interview with Jeff Berglund can be read here. Despite our interview having occurred almost 10 years ago, it took us this long to meet in person. Once I mentioned his turn in King Ghidorah, he immediately remembered me. Although he lives in Kyoto, Jeff came to Tokyo to host an event on Kyoto and international communication.
